10 Years ago today I was driving to St. George from Mesquite with my mother headed to school at Tuacahn High School... We were listening to the country radio station like we did every morning eating our doughnuts and watching the sun as it rised through the beautiful canyon... On the radio a women's voice came in saying that an airplane had crashed into the world trade center in New York City and my first thought was who cares its in New York why are we hearing about it on our local radio station (that just proves how young and selfish I was my Senior year of high school) But we kept listening and when I arrived at school all the teachers were escorting us into the drama room where a big screen was replaying the plane crash in New York, all 60 of us students sat in silence and watched as the world came crashing down in New York... After an hour the teachers decided it was best if we all went home to be with our families... It was a sad day and I was really young and very un educated when it came to world news and history, I didn't quit understand it all and why it was happening but I do remember feeling very scared that my brother and boyfriend would be called into war and that nothing would ever be the same in America... I look back and it saddens me that I didn't care more to get educated on the matter and really understand what had just happened, I did however save all the news paper articles and magazines I could, because I knew that this would be in the history books for years to come and that my children would be reading about it... I am proud to be an American and I am very proud of our military and god bless all the families that lost their loved ones that day....
