Bye Bye Baby Boy

My big boy started his first day of Kindergarten today and I didn't think I would be so sad...  He does so well in school and I was excited for him to start but today as I hugged him goodbye tears filled my eyes and his teacher Mrs. R. gave me this poem with a box of tissues...  I cried the whole way home...

The First Day
I gave you a little wink and smile
as you entered my room today
For I know how hard it is to leave
and know your child must stay
You've been with him for 5 years now
and have been a loving guide
But now, alas, the time has come
To leave him at my side
Just know that as you drive away
And tears down your cheeks may flow
I'll love him as I would my own
And help him learn and grow
For as a parent, I too know
How quickly the years do pass
And that one day soon it will be my turn
to take my child to class
So please put your mind at ease and cry those tears no more
For I will love him and take him in
When you leave him at my door.

I am so proud of Treycen and I know he will love school and meet so many new friends but today my heart is heavy and I cant believe my baby boy is getting so big...  I am very protective of him and even more now than ever because of his Brain Imbalance and his ADHD tenancies...  I want to protect him from bullying and I want to make sure he is not the one doing the bullying...  I want to protect him from mean girls and from the older kids who may not be so nice and friendly but I have to let him fall so that he can stand back up and I have to let him fail so that he can succeed and let him learn from his own experiences and learn from his own choices...  I have faith he will choose the right friends and choose to be a leader and not a follower...  I love you my sweet Treycen and I will miss you...

This is Treycen on his first day of Preschool!  I asked him "what he wanted to be when he grew up?" his answer was "Yellow Flash"  that is a super hero he made up...  This year I asked him the same question on his first day of Kindergarten and his reply today was "Iron Man"  apparently he is still in the Super hero stage...  I will be making him a book for graduation...  In this book will be a picture of him on his first day of school each year followed by the same question...  Then at graduation he will get the book and I am excited to see how many times he changes his answer....
