The Invisible Dust

Treycen started swimming lessons today at the SHAC and he was super excited...  He sat down with his class and listened as the lifeguard went over all the rules and the safety procedures...  When it was time to go shower and get ready for his first swim he freaked out, and came crying towards me...  I asked why he was so upset and he replied with "I don't want them to see me"  I was really surprised because Treycen loves to swim and he has never felt embarrassed before?  So as all the moms are starring at me, I get down on Treycen's level and blow invisible dust all over him...  He was still upset and we battled until I took him behind the wall and explained to him that he was invisible and he could go anywhere he wanted and no one would see...  After 5 minutes of pretending not to see him he was finally convinced he was invisible and went out to join his swim class...  He had a blast once he got in the water and played Simon Says...  I am not sure why he has such a hard time starting new things...  His first day of preschool last year, we had the same issue and I had invisible sunglasses! I guess I will have to keep my invisible blow dust for these 1st time jitters...  I hope as he gets older he will have more confidence and it won't be such an ordeal to try something new...  Treycen I am so very proud of you for taking on swim lessons and I know you will have the best two weeks but next time can you please not scream like a hyena in front of a room full of people...
 I love you -Mom
