Brain Balance

Ok, as promised I said I would tell you about Brain Balance...  There is so much information I would overwhelm you and then you would have a ton of un needed anxiety just like me so I will spare you the stress and anxiety and just give you the basics...

As I have mentioned before the brain has two hemispheres a right and a left...  They each do their own job and when balanced they work perfectly...  When one is stronger than the other then we have issues...  As for Treycen he has a right brain deficiency...  With the right brain not being as developed as it should be and with the left brain being over developed has caused Treycen some major issues...  Basically he has the academics of a second grader but behaviors and actions of a 3 year old...

Here are some paragraphs from Brain Balance that maybe will help you understand a little bit of Treycens ADHD....

"In the brains of children with neurological disorders such as ADHD we can see that certain genes are not being expressed. Its as if they were stuck in the off position. This is why paying attention to developmental milestones is so important. Out of control, peculiar, or unexplainable behaviors are often the first clue that the brain is not developing properly, that some environmental influence at some stage of either left or right brain development turned off a brain-building gene or genes.  When the brain is out of balance- when genes are unable to respond to the environmental and sensory cues to properly build the approach and avoidance centers of the brain on time- emotions become suppressed in one side and exaggerated in the other side. This is why a child with a right brain deficiency, such as ADHD can be wild and disruptive."

Here are some traits of a right brain deficiency:

1. Gets stuck in a set behavior, cant let it go
2. Lacks social tact and may be antisocial
3. Has a hard time making friends
4. Talks incessantly and asks repetitive questions or repeats words
5. Has poor time management skills and is always late
6. Has a problem paying attention
7. Can't sit still, is hyperactive and or impulsive
8. Argues all the time and is generally uncooperative
9.  Acts immature for his age
And these are just 9 out of 22 total traits...  Treycen has all 9 traits...

There is so much more information I could give you such as how did this happen and why and when did his brain stop developing etc.  But instead I will tell you what we are doing to fix the balance...  If you are still wanting to know more and have more questions, you are welcome to call me and I will explain it all from start to finish...

Fixing the problem:  We had him tested in the Brain Balance center here in St. George and his test scores clearly stated that he had a Right Brain deficiency and if any of the above traits sound like Treycen then they are right...  So in order to fix the imbalance we have to stop the Left brain from advancing and build the right brain...  In order to do that we have exercises we have to do with Treycen every day anywhere from eye exercises to core exercises...  He also has to be put on a Gluten, dairy and sugar free diet for the next 3 months...  He can not listen to any music other than the Brain Balance cd they gave us (and it puts me to sleep,  its only been a day of that and I am going crazy, I try really hard to tune it out) He can only have 30 minutes of tv or xbox a day and he has to wear an eye patch over his right eye and and ear plug in his right ear when he does either of those two things...  He can not play any games that stimulate the left side of the brain meaning he cant play anything thats intellectual, no number or alphabet games or puzzles etc.  They say not to worry about his learning ability because he is already so advanced that he will excel in school no matter what...  I believe them but at the same time I am extremely worried because I feel like I should be teaching the alphabet and all these learning things you should be doing with a kindergartner...  The program is 12 weeks and if we do everything that the program requires Treycen's brain should be 100% balanced and his behavioral issues will go away and he will function just like every body else and will continue to grow in a healthy state...

Now if I can just learn how to cook Gluten free and get Treycen to participate in these exercises that he has to do 5 times a day we would be golden...  Thanks to all my family and friends who have been there for support and are willing to help me as my family and I embark on this new journey...  And thank you to all who  invested money in this process...  I thank you from the bottom of my heart and I know Treycen will be forever thankful as well...
